We are all social beings and although we endeavour to individually live happier more fruitful lives, this cannot be complete without social action for the common good, helping others to live and be better – which is exactly what we inspire to do.
In just six years, the Nishkam Centre’s successful engagement with and development of local social capital to deliver innovative education, training & development, health screening, wellbeing, art and heritage has been acknowledged as a model of best practice for community regeneration, self-reliance and development.
With support from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and the community, we encourage and empower local residents, entrepreneurs and businesses to benefit from our multi-purpose Nishkam Centre, which offers support in the areas of training and education, health and wellbeing, youth and community activities, economic development, civic and interfaith engagement.
We aim to inspire social innovation through the shared values. In the words of our Centre Director, Amrick Singh, “The Sikh Dharam (faith) teaches us how to overcome ego by ‘nurturing’ and ‘reconditioning’ the human to ‘resonate’ with the Divine. This is what inspires and drives the great endeavors here – values and the innate passion to serve all creation”.
